Welcome to Escaping the Grind!

We're John and Kelly and this blog chronicles our journey away from the conventional high-pressure, full-time work life towards a more intentional existence.

We explore the practical steps and mindset shifts involved in reducing work, minimizing living costs, and prioritizing physical well-being, mental peace, and the richness of daily life over traditional markers of success.

Join us as we trade the grind for the greater good.

For years, like many, we've been caught up in the relentless current of conventional careers – John in the dynamic world of IT, and Kelly navigating the complexities of the insurance industry. We climbed the ladders, achieved the milestones, and built what many would call a "successful" life. Yet, amidst the hustle, a different kind of longing began to stir.

We found ourselves yearning for something more than promotions and possessions. We craved more time – time to breathe the fresh Exmoor air, time to connect with each other, nature, and our community, time to simply be rather than constantly do.

So, we're taking a leap.

We're consciously stepping away from the high-pressure, materialistic treadmill and redesigning our lives around a simpler, more intentional philosophy: working only enough to cover our true needs, and dedicating the rest of our precious time to what truly enriches us – our well-being, our passions, and the stunning natural world that surrounds us.

It's a journey of unlearning, rediscovering, and redefining what success and happiness mean to us. It's about trading the relentless pursuit of 'more' for the profound richness of 'enough'.

We invite you to join us on the journey from money and stuff to time and well-being.
